She worked primarily as a homemaker and spent her free time swimming, exercising, gardening, farming, and participating in the Alter Rosary Society of St. Verna was very crafty and loved to make quilts, sew, knit, and teach others to do the same. Kemp.Verna Margaret Mason, 95, passed away on Sunday, September 26th, 2021, in the comfort of her own home, under the care of Jefferson County Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and daughter Peggy J. Two great grandchildren Zoey and Zane Gorman. Four grandchildren, Sarah (Joey) Gorman of Sidney, Brigitte Mason, Morgan Mason and RobertLee Mason. Two sisters Bonnie Zarek of Fullerton and Ruth Carlson of Genoa. One daughter Lisa (Michael) Elwood of Kansas City, Missouri. Survivors include two sons, Ron of Genoa and Robert вЂњBobвЂќ (MarieFrance Weier) Mason of Beach Park, Ill. Her hobbies included painting, playing cards especially Bridge, crossword puzzles, reading and needlework. While living in Sidney she was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Den Mother for Cub Scouts, taught Sunday school and delivered meals on wheels. She was a member of the Fullerton United Methodist Church, past member of Jobs Daughters and V.F.W. In 2013 she moved to Valley View in Fullerton and resided there till her death.

She worked at the Sidney Memorial Hospital for several years. of Roads so they lived in many communities throughout north central Nebraska. Her husband was a project Engineer for the State of Nebraska Dept. She taught country school for six years at District 49, 10 and 54 all in Nance County.

She received her Teaching Certificate from Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney. She attended District 2 and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1942. Mason was born Jat Genoa to Frank and Mildred (Meyer) Purvis. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is assisting the family with local arrangements Mrs. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday to sign MargaretвЂ™s register book and drop off condolences for the family. Friday, April 11th in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney with Rev. Graveside inurnment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9th at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
